February 10, Fineko/abc.az. Per capita income in Azerbaijan has increased 60-fold over the past three decades, reaching $6,660 in 2023 using the Atlas method (used to calculate gross national income per capita).
ABC.AZ reports, quoting WB Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Roland Pryce, as saying this during the presentation of WB annual global report World Development Report (WDR) for 2024.
"In 1993, this figure was only $110. Azerbaijan has successfully used its natural resources to achieve this result, and it is certainly an impressive achievement," Pryce said.
She stressed that the country has more ambitious goals.
"To become one of the high-income countries, it is necessary not only to invest in physical infrastructure, but also to pay special attention to development of human capital, talent retention and strengthening institutions that will contribute to economic diversification," Pryce added.
