February 18, Fineko/abc.az. The Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) platform in Azerbaijan will be the first unmanned platform, unlike the other nine platforms.

ABC.AZ reports that Project Manager Elshad Maharramli said about this at the public discussion of the Environmental and Socio-Economic Impact Assessment (ESIA) draft document of the SDC project today.

"On this platform, we are bringing one year to Azerbaijan, both to reduce costs and to use new technologies. Twice a year, every six months, for 15 days, workers will come and carry out maintenance work. They will come by ship and perform maintenance. There is no access by helicopters there. In order to prevent the risk of ship collisions, a 500-meter prohibited zone has been created at the border of the platform.

This project envisages connecting compressed gas to existing pipelines. We'll send the gas to the Sangachal terminal using the existing pipelines," he added.
