A multimodal hub to be created in Aktau

February 19, Fineko/abc.az. Creation of a multimodal hub is planned in Aktau to provide cargo transportation with the use of aviation, automobile, railway and sea communications.

ABC.AZ reports that Talgat Lastayev, Vice Minister of Transport for the development of the aviation industry of Kazakhstan, made this statement at a regular government meeting.

"The structure of the hub will include a technical center for aircraft maintenance and repair, as well as a training center for training specialists," he said.

According to Lastayev, six airports (Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktobe, Karaganda, Aktau) have been defined to develop air hubs in Kazakhstan and increase cargo traffic at the country's airports.

"As part of their modernization, it is planned to upgrade the infrastructure and simplify logistics processes. It is planned to attract $2.1 billion of private investments to implement these projects," the vice minister said.
