India increased gold imports by 9% in 2024, spending $58.1 bn

March 12, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, India imported 812 tons of gold for $58.1 bn (9% more in volume and 36% more in value than in the previous year).

ABC.AZ reports that the main suppliers are Switzerland (274 tons) and the UAE (164 tons).

India is one of the largest consumers of gold in the world, without producing it itself, while consumer demand in 2024 reached 803 tons, and the country's Reserve Bank purchased 73 tons.
