March 14, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan made the largest monthly import ever recorded, buying another 8 tons of gold in January 2025.

ABC.AZ reports that 7,950.47 kg, or about 280,445 troy ounces of gold, were purchased in January. Azerbaijan spent $689.95 million for imported gold in one month.

In recent years, gold price has grown strongly against the US dollar amid geopolitical risks and rising inflation. While at the beginning of last year it cost $2,000 per ounce, by the end of the year this figure had risen to $2,900.

Today, on March 14, 2025, gold futures updated their historical maximum, rising to $3,000 per ounce.
