Countries with the largest gold reserves

March 17, Fineko/abc.az. The leading position in the list of countries with the largest gold reserves is occupied by the U.S., which has gold reserves of 8,133.46 tons, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the World Gold Council (WGC).

Germany ranks second (3,351.53). The next four countries with approximately the same reserves are Italy (2,451.84 tons), France (2,437 tons), Russia (2,335.9 tons) and China (2,279.56 tons). Switzerland, India, Japan and the Netherlands also made it to Top 10.

According to experts, in 2025, the appetite of the world's central banks for gold will continue, and the volume of purchases may reach 900 tons.

The WGS study says that the steady demand for gold shows the strategic importance of this precious metal in official reserves, especially against the background of increased geopolitical risks.
