March 17, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, 85% of the cargo transportation market between Azerbaijan and Russia accounted for Azerbaijani companies.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting the head of the cargo transportation department of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, as saying this at the Baku event on the theme "Azerbaijan is at the intersection of the transcontinental mega-routes East-West and North-South".

He added that the Azerbaijani carriers to transport and to third countries: "For example, the shipment from Turkey to Russia or from Russia to Germany. Significant progress has been made in this area in recent years thanks to cooperation with foreign countries. If in 2021 the number of international shipments was 13,900, then in 2024 this figure increased to 45,900."

In addition, the Transport Agency’s representative noted that over the past three years, Azerbaijan has significantly increased its market share in bilateral transportation with neighboring countries.

"In 2021, our share was 39%, and in 2024 it reached 49%. We have particularly strong position in transportation with Russia - 85% of the market. There is also significant progress in cooperation with Turkey: if in 2021 our share in this market was 19%, then in 2024 it increased to 41%. In general, due to the work done over the past year, 61% of export cargoes were transported by national carriers," Abilov stressed.
