March 17, Fineko/abc.az. Climate and environmental changes are one of the significant factors that affect economic growth, sustainable social development and the quality of life of people.

ABC.AZ reports that this was mentioned at meetings during the official visit to Baku of a delegation of Russian lawmakers led by Federation Council’s chariperson Valentina Matvienko on March 16-17.

"Instead of spending 800 billion euros on weapons, as Europe wants, it is better to spend them on the environment," Matvienko said.

These issues will be discussed on May 22-23 in St. Petersburg at the XI Nevsky International Environmental Congress, to which the Russian speaker invited Azerbaijani parliamentarians.
