March 19, Fineko/abc.az. The Government of Canada is urging residents of Canada to buy locally produced products in order to support the economic, social and environmental stability and independence of the country amid the escalating trade conflict with the United States.

ABC.AZ reports that decades of free trade have deeply integrated Canada's food supply chains with the U.S., making it difficult to determine what is actually local.

Even for Canadian companies, most food products are included in global supply chains and often contain a mix of Canadian and foreign ingredients. The Canadian meat industry is a prime example of this. Two multinational corporations, American Cargill and Brazilian JBS - process more than 95% of beef produced in Canada.
