National time standard under creation in Azerbaijan

12:18 - 18.04.2025

April 18, Fineko/abc.az. Work on the creation of the National Time Standard is starting in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Agency for Antimonopoly Control & Consumer Market Supervision under the Presidential Administration, that currently, the correct and coordinated allocation of time in the country, that is, time synchronization, is carried out, using various foreign sources and methods.

This leads to increased dependence on foreign systems and makes it difficult to synchronize more accurately. As a result, the risk of various technical obstacles in the fields of finance, logistics, communications and other areas increases.

The Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology has taken important steps in this direction. Thus, in accordance with the action plan of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026, approved by presidential decree from July 22, 2022, a cesium atomic clock and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers were installed in the newly created laboratory of time and frequency measurements of the Institute.
