April 21, Fineko/abc.az. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will take part in today’s ceremony of commissioning of new Turkish communications satellite Turksat 6A.

ABC.AZ informs that with the launch of the new satellite, the coverage of the Turkish orbital group will expand from 3.5 to 5 billion people.

Turksat 6A is the first domestic communications satellite developed and produced by Turkish engineers from major defense and space enterprises. The purpose of its operation is to strengthen Turkey's presence in space and reduce its external dependence on critical technologies.

The launch ceremony of the satellite will take place at the Turksat Gölbaşı facility in Ankara.With the launch of the satellite, Turkey will be able to expand its communications services to India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
