April 23, Fineko/abc.az. 28 billion kWh of electricity is consumed annually for heating in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting the acting chairman of Azeristiktejhizat OJSC, Ilham Mirzaliyev, during the discussion of the Bill on Heat Supply at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy & Ecology.

"This means that 140-150 kWh of energy is spent on heating 1 sq m of area. Even in the least energy-efficient European countries, this figure is about 70 kWh. This, in turn, indicates that energy consumption for heating purposes in Azerbaijan is almost twice as high as in Europe, which leads to serious problems in terms of energy efficiency. The amount of energy consumed causes significant financial losses,"  Mirzaliyev said.
