April 23, Fineko/abc.az. Russia and China may install a nuclear power plant (NPP) on the surface of the Moon as part of the construction of the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS).

ABC.AZ reports that this follows from the presentation of the chief engineer of the space mission, Pei Zhaoyu, which he presented in Shanghai. In addition to the nuclear power plant, the power supply to the lunar base will be provided by giant solar panels.

According to China's plans, the Chang'e-8 automatic station, scheduled to be launched in 2028, should lay the foundation for the construction of a habitable base at the South Pole of the Moon. At the first stage, a lander, a rover and a robot will be sent to the Moon to explore the resources and terrain of the Earth's satellite. At the second stage, it is planned to establish a lunar station control center, organize the delivery of bulk cargo to the satellite, and create orbital modules for power supply, communications, and transportation services. It is planned to complete the creation of a lunar station that can be controlled remotely by 2036.
