May 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan has announced the start of the cocoon growing season in 2025.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the Ministry that today at the Gakh breeding sericulture station, silkworm seeds were distributed to silkworms from 40 regions located in the lowland and foothill zones.

It was noted at the event that sericulture is considered one of the economically efficient areas of agriculture, therefore its development is identified by the Ministry as one of the priorities:

"There is huge potential for development of sericulture in our country. In accordance with the instructions of the country’s president, the Ministry is taking appropriate measures to create modern sericulture infrastructure in the republic, form a food base, and organize the production of silkworm eggs."
