May 14, Fineko/abc.az. Dubai International Airport (DXB) will eventually close and all operations will be transferred to Al Maktoum (DWC).
ABC.AZ informs that the expansion of DWC is estimated at $35 billion. As a result, its capacity will be about 260 million passengers a year.
The new DWC terminal is to be launched in 2032, but the expansion of the airport will continue until the 2050s.
Dubai Hub, currently considered the busiest airport in the world, handled a record 92.3 million passengers in 2024.
The decision to merge operations is linked with the close proximity of the two terminals and the limited expansion capabilities of the DXB.
