May 16, Fineko/abc.az. For Jan-Apr 2024, spring crops were sown in Azerbaijan on an area of 270,500 hectares.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the State Statistics Committee, the figure is 9.8% less against Jan-Apr 2023 (300,000 hectares). So, for Jan-Apr 2024, the sowing of spring crops in the country was carried out on an area of 300,000 ha.

This year 50,400 ha have been sown with grain and leguminous crops (of which 21,600 ha - corn for grain), 40,500 ha - potatoes, 43,600 ha - vegetables, 12,300 ha - melons, 63,700 ha - cotton, 9,900 ha - sunflower for grain, 5,500 ha - sugar beet, 1,400 ha - tobacco, 39,300 ha  - perennial grasses, 3,700 ha - annual grasses, 200 ha - other spring crops.

Over Jan-Apr, farms produced 147,700 tons of vegetables and 52,000 tons of potatoes. Compared with Jan-Apr 2024, vegetable production grew by 12.4%.
