Turkey negotiates with Russia and other countries about new nuclear power plant projects

May 21, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey is negotiating with a range of countries, including Russia, about projects of construction of the second and third nuclear power plants, ABC.AZ reports with reference to Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

"Russia, South Korea, and China are showing interest in the construction of the second and third nuclear power plants. Along with them, there are other countries and companies with which we are also negotiating. In particular, it is a company from Canada Canada. We will make the choice that will be most beneficial to Turkey," Sabah newspaper quoted the minister as saying.

Turkey's first Akkuyu nuclear power plant is being built by Rosatom. The project consists of four power units with Russian-designed VVER generation "3+" reactors. The capacity of each power unit will be 1,200 MW.
