May 26, Fineko/abc.az. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that he will personally initiate changes to the basic law if the Constitutional Court of Armenia does not approve the peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ informs that he noted that the agreement should in any case be sent to the Constitutional Court.
"If the Constitutional Court decides that the agreement does not comply with the laws of Armenia, then my personal position is that I will initiate amendments to the constitution, because I believe that the opportunity to conclude peace should not be missed," Pashinyan said at international forum Yerevan Dialogue.
The Armenian PM stated earlier that he had set a goal to adopt a new constitution. The Armenian opposition accuses the politician of accepting Azerbaijan's demand to exclude references to the Declaration of Independence from the text of the basic law, which includes a reference to Nagorno-Karabakh (in 2023, the head of government recognized it as the territory of Azerbaijan).
In April, Pashinyan stated that Yerevan was ready to sign a peace agreement with Baku and dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group.
Earlier, Lavrov assessed the level of "Ukrainization" in Armenia.
