June 10, Fineko/abc.az. SOCAR (SOCAR) and Germany's SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe) signed a contract for the purchase of gas from the state-owned company of Azerbaijan for 10 years.
ABC.AZ informs that according to the document, the volumes of gas will be supplied by SOCAR to SEFE in Europe.
The annual volume will gradually increase to 15 terawatt-hours (TWh), which is about 1.5 bcm.
This partnership will support investments in manufacturing and infrastructure such as gas compressors, increasing the volume of pipeline gas entering Europe and thereby ensuring security of supply to the continent.
"Through this partnership, we are creating a new route for significant volumes of gas to flow to Europe, thereby diversifying our portfolio and increasing the security of supply to our customers," SEFE head Egbert Legge says.
SOCAR president Rovshan Najaf stated: "This agreement is another important stage in SOCAR's efforts to strengthen Europe's energy security. By supplying reliable and large volumes of natural gas to SEFE, we are further strengthening the existing partnership between Azerbaijan and Germany, contributing to diversification of Europe's energy sector and achieving sustainable development goals. SOCAR will continue to invest in infrastructure and mining projects to ensure safe and uninterrupted energy supply to our partners."
