June 20, Fineko/abc.az. A political decision has been made to establish a trade representative office of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan.
ABC.AZ reports that Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov stated about this at the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interregional Forum in Baku.
"I would like to announce the decision to establish a trade representative office of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan. This step will become a key tool for promoting our exports, expanding investment cooperation, establishing direct business contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries and implementing joint regional projects," Jabbarov said.
The minister said that the Treaty on Allied Relations signed by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, signed in August of last year, has become an important vector determining long-term bilateral ties and regional policy:
"2024 was marked by significant events in development of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek partnership. In May, Guba hosted the II Interregional Forum, within the framework of which twinning agreements were concluded between the cities of Fuzuli and Gulistan, Bilasuvar and Termez, Mingachevir and Namangan. I would especially like to emphasize that most of the joint projects are being implemented in the regions of our countries. This is clear evidence that interregional cooperation today plays not only a supporting role in supporting national priorities, but also acts as an independent mechanism for sustainable and mutually beneficial development."
