Britain to conduct an experiment to build up Arctic ice

June 23, Fineko/abc.az. An experiment to increase the thickness of the ice sheet will take place on Victoria Island.

ABC.AZ informs that this was reported on June 23 by newspaper The Times.

According to the publication, a group of scientists led by Dr. Sean Fitzgerald from the University of Cambridge will use robotic devices for research on ice buildup.

Earlier, The Daily Telegraph reported on the UK's plans to deploy troops in the Arctic on a permanent basis.

The Arctic is becoming an arena of geopolitical rivalry: against the background of melting ice, Russia is strengthening its military presence, and NATO, in response, plans to deploy troops in Norway.
