September 12, Fineko/abc.az. The relocation of the cemetery around Bulbul Lake in the Bulbul settlement of Surakhani district, in the center of the Absheron Peninsula, is considered a necessary measure, Rovshan Abbasov, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and an environmental expert, during a panel discussion at Baku Water Week.
According to ABC.AZ, citing Report, he noted that properly treated wastewater could meet a significant portion of Baku’s drinking water needs: “On average, up to 20 cubic meters of water per second enters Baku, of which only a small part is used for drinking purposes, while the rest is used for other needs.”
Abbasov added that a boulevard will be created along the 99-hectare lake. “According to the project, a bridge will be built across the lake. Bulbul Lake, which for many years received waste and sewage from surrounding settlements, will soon become a recreational area,” he said.
