3,700 tons of gold extracted last year

October 3, Fineko/abc.az. By the end of 2024, 3,700 tons of gold were mined in the world (only 0.6% more versus the previous year), ABC.AZ reports, referring to World Gold Council (WGC).

China holds leader position in gold mining: the country produced 380.2 tons of gold with a share of 10.4%.

Significant volumes also account for Russia (330 tons), Australia (284 tons) and Canada (202.1 tons).

Top 10 also includes the USA (158 tons), Ghana (140.6 tons), Mexico (140.3 tons), Indonesia (140.1 tons), Peru (136.9 tons) and Uzbekistan (129.1 tons). According to the WGC, Kazakhstan ranked 14th with production of 87 tons. These indicators are based on the Metals Focus methodology and “refined” or “paid gold” is taken into account here.

In other words, speech is not abput the mass of gold ore or semi-finished products, but about the metal that has been processed and is in the state closest to refining.
