October 10, Fineko/abc.az. Greece is negotiating with Chevron (U.S.) and its partner Helleniq Energy to conclude a contract for gas exploration on the country's continental shelf.
ABC.AZ reports that according to Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou, the deal is to be completed by the end of 2025.
The companies claim four deep-water sites off the Peloponnese and Crete. After the contract is approved by the audit court and Parliament, work will begin with seismic surveys in 2026, and trial drilling is possible no earlier than 2030-2032.
Greece is seeking to reduce its dependence on imports and strengthen its role in gas supplies to Europe.
