OpenAI to launch its own AI chips

10:24 - 14.10.2025

October 14, Fineko/abc.az. OpenAI has announced collaboration with Broadcom to develop and manufacture its own chips to be used in company's data centers.

ABC.AZ informs that the project will reduce dependence on Nvidia solutions and provide sufficient computing power for products such as ChatGPT and Sora.

According to OpenAI, the release of its own chips will allow "to integrate the experience of developing advanced models directly into the hardware", which will open up new opportunities to increase the efficiency and intelligence of systems.

As part of the agreement, it is planned to deploy an infrastructure with a capacity of 10 GW, which is approximately what 10 nuclear reactors produce.

Broadcom will begin installing the equipment in the 2nd half of 2026, and the project is to be completed by the end of 2029.
