October 14, Fineko/abc.az. Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), one of the key members of OPEC, has announced a major discovery. The development of the well called Jazah-1 has shown excellent results.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the company, this is the highest productivity for a vertical well in this geological formation in the entire history of the country. The well produces more than 29 million cubic feet (approx. 812,000 cu m) of natural gas per day and an additional 5,000 barrels of gas condensate.

According to preliminary estimates, the size of the discovered deposit is about 40 sq km. Experts predict that about 1 trillion cubic feet of gas and 120 million barrels of condensate are stored here.

For Kuwait, which currently produces close to 2.52 million b/d of oil, such discoveries are an important step towards an ambitious goal. The country plans to increase total production up to 4 million barrels of equivalent oil per day by 2035.
