October 16, Fineko/abc.az. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced country's readiness to continue implementing projects in the Syrian oilfields.

ABC.AZ reports that this topic became one of the central ones during the talks between Vladimir Putin and Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, which took place in Moscow on Wednesday.

As Novak noted, Russian organizations have been present in the Syrian oil industry for many years and are now planning to expand their work at various facilities, both those that need to be developed or re-launched, and at newly explored sites.

The modernization of the transport system and the restoration of the Syrian energy complex, where the active use of Russian technologies and equipment is expected, are identified as key areas.

After the change of power in Syria, a number of Western sanctions were lifted from the country, and Turkey, Qatar, and other Middle Eastern countries are now very interested in the Syrian energy sector.
