October 20, Fineko/abc.az. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will pay a state visit to Kazakhstan on October 20-21 at the invitation of President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

ABC.AZ informs that according to Tokayev's press service, the leaders of the two countries will hold talks and take part in a meeting of the Interstate Council and a business forum.

According to experts, the key topics of negotiations will be issues of cooperation in the transport and communications sector. "The Trans-Caspian international transport route, called the Middle Corridor, is currently the most discussed, and all the countries along this route are interested in promoting it," political commentator Tofiq Abbasov says.

In his opinion, energy and oil transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will also be an important component of negotiations. According to Abbasov, Azerbaijan does not have large transshipment capabilities yet, however, it is able to deliver some of Kazakhstan's products to the world market. According to Kazmunaygas, Kazakhstan intends to supply 1.2 million tons of oil via this route in 2025. According to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, the parties are considering the possibility of increasing this figure up to 7 million tons by 2027.

Two countries’ trade turnover totaled $470 million in 2024 and grew up to $547 million in 2025.
