Tax Service head about more evasions when paying in cash

In Azerbaijan, the doubling of the turnover threshold, which forms the obligation for VAT-payers to register simplified tax on non-cash payments (from 200,000 to 400,000 manats), does not cover cash payments, ABC.AZ reports, quoting State Tax Service’s head Orkhan Nazarli.

"The increase in the VAT limit applies to non-cash payments. As the share of non-cash payments in retail trade is 78.2%. In this regard, the limit is quite comprehensive. There are more evasions when paying in cash. For this reason, more non-cash payments are being stimulated," he said.

In addition, the tax official said that the application of tax benefits to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the occupaton-liberated territories is conditioned by the peculiarities of these regions: "Why are there no benefits, for example, in Guba or in other territories? The specifics is taken into account here. Because Nakhchivan is an exclave, its geography and borders can be very strictly monitored. At that, there is format of the licensing system in Karabakh that can also be controlled. Each of us is aware of the importance of the political side of both the first and the second sides."
