Details of Goradiz-Agbend railway project published

November 6, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) has already completed 68% of the construction of Goradiz–Agbend railway line, ABC.AZ informs, quoting ADY’s spokesman Javad Alovsatov.

According to Alovsatov, the construction of the rail line began in 2021, its total length is 110.4 km, and taking into account the side tracks - 140.6 km.

"The project includes construction of 40 bridges, 9 railway stations, 22 road crossings, 4 tunnels, 3 galleries and a total of nearly 600 engineering structures. The work is carried out in three stages. The first stage covers the Goradiz–Yukhary Marjanli–Shukurbeyli-Soltanli stages," Alovsatov noted.

He added that most of the work on this part has already been finished: "Currently, goods are being transported by rail to the Industrial Park of the Araz Economic Zone."

The second stage covers Soltanli–Gumlag–Hakari–Minjivan stations: "Since this part is located below the maximum water rise level of Khudafara hydroelectric complex, bridges of various types have been built here and special protective measures have been taken. It was at this stage that the longest railway bridge in Azerbaijan was built. Its length is 771 m, and it consists of 23 passes."

According to Alovsatov, work on the third stage is ongoing in parallel: "At this stage, excavation work, construction of 3 tunnels and 1 gallery are underway. 71% of construction & installation work has been completed in the tunnels."

He also emphasized that, in general, 75.6 km of main track and 87 km with side branches have already been laid via Goradiz–Agbend railway line, 66 km of long rails have been installed: "The physical readiness of the project is 68%, work continues according to plan, and construction will be completed on time," Alovsatov underlined.
