U.S. leads list of applicants for construction of a nuclear power plant in Sinop

November 12, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey in 2026 will decide on the country that will build the second nuclear power plant in the republic and sign an intergovernmental agreement with it. The USA and American companies are the favorites in the list of applicants.

ABC.AZ informs that business newspaper Ekonomim writes about this.

The second Turkish nuclear power plant is to be built in the Black Sea province of Sinop. The Turkish authorities previously held talks with companies from the United States, Canada, South Korea, China and Russia, and they have started anew with some of them, the newspaper notes.

According to Ekonomim, the U.S. interest in the nuclear power plant construction project in Sinop is well known. According to the newspaper, "it is alleged that U.S. President Donald Trump informed his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan of his desire to receive this project."
