IEA forecast: Russia to overtake North America in oil exports again by 2050

November 12, Fineko/abc.az. Russia may once again become the world's second largest exporter of oil and petroleum products by 2050, ABC.AZ informs, referring to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

"Russia's net oil exports in 2035 (7 million b/d) are 200,000 b/d lower than in North America, but Russia will once again become the world's second-cleanest oil exporter by 2050 amid declining exports from the Americas in the 1940s," the IEA report says.

The Middle Eastern countries, which now account for about 50% of global net exports, will remain in the first place. Supplies from North America will grow from 1.5 million b/d to 7 million b/d in 2035 and then begin to decline in the 2040s due to production cuts, the agency expects.
