November 26, Fineko/abc.az. The railway administrations of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia signed a Memorandum of Understanding within the 83rd meeting of the Council on Railway Transport of the CIS member states.
ABC.AZ reports that the Memorandum was signed by the head of Azerbaijan Railways Rovshan Rustamov, General Director - Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and General Director of Iranian Railways Jabbar Ali Zakeri.
The document envisages coordination of tariff approaches, formation of a single integrated tariff, launch of regular block trains and simplification of transportation procedures. Its signing will be an important step in developing long-term trilateral cooperation and improving the efficiency of the western direction of North-South route.
Implementation of these mechanisms will create a more predictable, fast and cost-effective logistics chain between Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran. In general, this agreement strengthens the positions of the parties as reliable participants in international transport corridors and creates favorable conditions for sustainable growth of transit flows in the region.
