December 1, Fineko/abc.az. Poland suspends the issuance of work visas to Georgian citizens within the simplified procedure.
ABC.AZ informs that government's decision came into force immediately and changes the procedure for labor migration for immigrants from Georgia, who previously could apply for a visa without a mandatory interview at the consulate.
Those who have already received work visas retain the right to work legally until their validity expires. Documents submitted to the Polish diplomatic mission before the new rules came into force will be processed according to the previous requirements.
Previously, the procedure was much simpler, it was enough for an employer to submit an application to a local labor authority, after which a two-year visa was issued automatically, without additional verification steps.
The policy change was influenced by discussions within the European Union, and Brussels is considering the possibility of limiting the visa-free regime for Georgia in connection with the political processes in the country.
According to data for 2024, 47,086 Georgian citizens worked in Poland. The simplified procedure for issuing work visas remains in place for citizens of Armenia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.
