December 8, Fineko/abc.az. Volkswagen's (VW) investments in production, technologies and infrastructure will reach €160 bn by 2030.

ABC.AZ informs that company’s head Oliver Blume stated this in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS).

Such investments are part of company's annually updated 5-year plan. The volume of planned investments has decreased this year compared to the previous ones. For example, investments of €180 bn were planned for the period from 2024 to 2028, and €165 bn for 2025-2029.

VW has faced serious challenges in recent years due to slowing demand, difficulties in selling electric vehicles, and increased competition from Chinese companies. In 2024, Volkswagen announced that it would have to close factories and cut tens of thousands of employees. This year, Donald Trump's import duties have been added to these problems. VW ended Q3 with loss of €1.1 bn, with the company estimating total losses due to U.S. duties in 2025 at €5 bn.
