December 8, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, Azerbaijan is working on the translation into a single database of hydrometeorological data for the past 100 years.

ABC.AZ informs that Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Kerimov made the relevant statement at a scientific & practical conference of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology on the topic "Prospects of artificial intelligence in the fight against climate change".

"In addition, the National Hydrometeorological Service has installed 3 Doppler radar systems for timely detection, identification of dangerous weather conditions and their accurate forecasting. Meteorological radars allow us to obtain reliable diagnostic data on convective clouds accompanied by dangerous phenomena," he said.

The deputy minister added that these systems use the latest technological methods for determining the trajectory of clouds and cloud systems in connection with showers, hail and lightning, developing 1-3-hour weather forecasts, millions of rows have functionality such as data generation and analysis: "At the next stage, these large amounts of data are planned to be published on the opendata portal..az as an open data set. Also, based on these data, preparatory work is underway to compile more accurate hydrometeorological forecasts, as well as their processing at the next stage using the supercomputers available in our country. In addition, data on atmospheric pollution and the radiation background of the natural environment, necessary for agriculture, will be prepared and presented in the form of datasets starting next year."
