Orban receives guarantees from Erdogan on stable supplies of Russian gas

December 9, Fineko/abc.az. The Hungarian government has secured additional guarantees for uninterrupted Russian gas supplies.

ABC.AZ informs that following yesterday's talks in Istanbul with Turkish leader Erdogan, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Turkey is ready to ensure the stability of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, which supplies natural gas from Russia. Hungary received nearly 7.5 bcm of gas via the pipeline last year, and now Ankara has confirmed its readiness to support the operation of this gas route.

This decision strengthens Budapest's energy independence against the background of general instability in the European market and was the next step after Orban's recent talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. At that time, Russia confirmed its commitment to deliver the agreed volumes of oil and gas through pipelines Druzhba and Turkish Stream without delay.
