December 10, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan and China discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.

According to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, discussions took place at a meeting between the deputy head of this department, Samaddin Asadov, and a delegation from the State Property Control and Management Committee of the State Council of China (SASAC).

Asadov noted that Azerbaijan was one of the first to support the One Belt, One Road initiative, and considers the Middle Corridor as its key component.

He spoke about investments in country's transport infrastructure and major projects in the communications sector implemented over the past 20 years. Asadov noted that as a result of active cooperation with the countries of the region, the efficiency of transit routes has significantly increased.

At the meeting, the Chinese side was also informed about the work on the construction of the Zangezur Corridor. It was noted that the project will contribute to the diversification of regional communications, as well as support for sustainable peace and well-being in the region.

The parties stressed that there are great opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of transport and communications, sharing experiences and implementing new initiatives.
