Uzbekistan and Iran aim for multibillion-dollar growth in trade and investments

16:36 - 18.12.2025

December 18, Fineko/abc.az. In the first 9 months of 2025, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Iran exceeded $500 million. At a business forum in Tashkent, the parties announced their intention to move from one-time deals to sustainable cooperation, including joint production and localization.

ABC.AZ reports that the Iranian delegation included more than 70 companies, and in 2025 around 250 Iranian companies started or expanded their activities in Uzbekistan. Special attention is paid to transport corridors, logistics, and route diversification through the North–South corridor.

The main obstacles are financial settlements due to sanctions and limited access to the international banking infrastructure. To circumvent them, joint projects with settlements within Uzbekistan are being developed. Forums and the intergovernmental commission contribute to translating agreements into specific contracts and projects for 2025-27.
