December 30, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S is looking for alternatives to Chinese supplies of antimony, a strategic semi-metal for defense and industry, and has begun purchases in Pakistan, ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Financial Times.
Interest in the deal has increased amid restrictions from China and Donald Trump administration's policy of securing critically important minerals.
In 2025, Pakistan's Himalayan Earth Exploration entered into partnership with Australia's Nova Minerals; in early 2026, it is planned to supply more than 100 tons of antimony concentrate for further processing in Alaska. Despite the fact that Pakistan's share in global antimony production is about 1%, the move reflects U.S.’ desire to diversify supply chains and reduce risks to the economy and the defense industry.
