January 12, Fineko/abc.az. Today, the level of gasification of the population in Azerbaijan has reached 96%.

ABC.AZ reports that this is reflected in the State Program for 2026-2035 on improvement of water supply, stormwater and wastewater systems in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, approved today by President Ilham Aliyev.

"We have largely resolved the issues of gasification. Today, gasification in our country has reached 96%. By this I mean the population, not the localities. 96% of the population is provided with natural gas today," the president said.

The head of state stressed that this issue occupies a special place among the infrastructure projects carried out over the past 20 years: "Because at one time our gas supply did not allow us to meet domestic demand. We imported gas from abroad and faced great difficulties. And today, more than 10 countries of the world - their number is growing every year, and this year new states will join this list - are strengthening their energy security by buying natural gas from Azerbaijan."
