In early December of 2025, Putin paid an official visit to Riyadh, where he held talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. At that time, the parties agreed to expand joint work not only in the oil and gas sector, but also in areas such as nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and renewable energy sources.

Saudi Arabia surpassed Russia in terms of oil production last year, coming in second place in the world. According to OPEC estimates, black gold production in Russia in 2025 totaled 9.13 million b/d and in Saudi Arabia - 9.472 million b/d.
