January 19, Fineko/abc.az. In 2025, 40.235 bcm of gas were transported through the main gas pipelines of Azerbaijan (0.3% less than in 2024), ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee.

Last year, 57.5% of gas transportation was carried out via South Caucasus pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (23.143 bcm of gas; a rise of 1.3% year-on-year).

The South Caucasus pipeline supplies gas extracted from Shah Deniz field (a gas condensate field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea) to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The South Caucasus pipeline was put into operation at the end of 2006, and since that time, the transportation of gas produced as part of Shah Deniz Project 1 has begun. And since the summer of 2018, the supply of gas produced as part of Shah Deniz Project 2 started via the expanded South Caucasus pipeline to Turkey via TANAP pipeline.
