February 12, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Industry & Trade of Russia has proposed full VAT of 22% on all imported goods from January 1, 2027.

ABC.AZ informs that this statement was made by Ministry’s department head Anton Alikhanov.

The initiative is aimed at creating equal conditions for domestic and foreign suppliers, as foreign companies are now exempt from VAT and customs duties.

The proposal of the Ministry of Industry & Trade is at odds with the plans of the Ministry of Finance, which proposes a phased increase in VAT on imports: 5% in 2027 with gradual increase up to 20% by 2030.

In addition to the tax initiative, the Ministry is working to improve the system of cross-border online trading and equalize commissions at marketplaces.
