WB may allocate up to $1 bn a year to Kazakhstan

February 13, Fineko/abc.az. The World Bank is ready to give loans up to $1 billion annually to Kazakhstan during six years for projects in the fields of transport, digitalization and energy.

ABC.AZ informs that this was reported in the government following talks between Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin and the bank's delegation.

The financing is provided within the new cooperation strategy for 2026-2031. In 2020-2025, 14 projects worth $4.2 billion were implemented.

Earlier, bank’s representative Andrey Mikhnev noted that speech is about long-term loans on preferential terms. He added that Kazakhstan's national debt is nearly 24% of GDP and its external debt is 7% of GDP.
