February 13, Fineko/abc.az. Energy efficiency is one of the main directions on the sustainable development agenda of Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that Jahid Mikayilov, the head of the Energy Efficiency Department of the Ministry of Energy, made this statement at an event dedicated to the Agreement of Mayors - Eastern Partnership initiative.

He added that steps taken at the local level play an important role in the implementation of this policy: "The Agreement of Mayors – Eastern Partnership initiative is an important platform providing municipalities with mechanisms for taking energy efficiency measures. The Ministry of Energy will continue to support local governments in making effective use of these opportunities."

He noted that joining this initiative can provide support for many energy efficiency measures, such as reducing heating costs for administrative buildings, strengthening thermal insulation, optimizing energy consumption of social facilities, and switching to LED lighting systems.
