February 16, Fineko/abc.az. According to the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), global potato production in 2024 amounted to 390.4 million tons.

ABC.AZ informs that China remained the leader with volume of 94.8 million tons (24% of global production). India came in 2nd place with 57.1 million tons (15%). Top 5 of the largest producers includes Ukraine (21.1 million tons, 5.4%), the USA (19.1 million tons, 4.9%) and Russia (18.4 million tons, 4.7%). Every twentieth ton of potatoes produced in the world came from the last of these five countries.

The largest potato exporters in 2024 were France (3.3 million tons), the Netherlands (2.8 million tons) and Germany (2.7 million tons).
