February 24, Fineko/abc.az. In 2025, 2,995 greenhouses with total area of 1,500 hectares were operating in Azerbaijan, compared to 3,037 greenhouses (1,600 hectares) a year earlier. Thus, during the year their number decreased by 42, and the area by 100 hectares.
ABC.AZ reports that greenhouse tomato production declined from 224,900 tons to 156,800 tons (minus 68,100 tons). The production of cucumbers fell from 11,600 to 7,500 tons and lemons - from 55 to 52 tons, while the production of onions remained almost at the same level.
At the same time, the production of mushrooms (up to 1,800 tons), strawberries (up to 241.1 tons), eggplant and pepper increased. Data on potatoes and cabbage is not reflected in the statistics of 2025.
The main volume of production dropped on Khazar, Shamkir, Absheron, Salyan and a range of other districts.
Exports of fresh tomatoes reached 172,860 tons (a rise of 18.72%) for $192.47 million. The average price was $1,113 per ton (a drop of 7.56%). Russia remains the largest market.
