Number of Azerbaijanis traveling abroad has decreased

February 25, Fineko/abc.az. In January 2026, the number of Azerbaijani citizens who went abroad reached 151,900 people (1.4% less versus January 2025).

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, that 35.8% of citizens went to Turkey (2% less), 15.8% to Russia (+1.5%), 12.3% to Iran (+13.3%), 9.8% to Georgia (-17.6%), and 26.3% to other countries. Of them, men made up 66.3% and women - 33.7%.

69% of travelers used air transport, 29.5% — rail and road, 1.5% — sea.

In addition, 181,800 foreign citizens and stateless persons from 158 countries visited Azerbaijan in January (5.3% more than a year ago). Among them: 23.4% from Russia, 20.1% from Turkey, 8.5% from Iran, 5% from India, 4.9% from Saudi Arabia, 4.8% from Georgia, 3.7% from Pakistan, 3.1% from Kazakhstan, 2.8% from Uzbekistan, 2.7% from Israel, 2% from Kuwait, 1.7 % from the UAE, 1.4% from China, by 1.3% from Turkmenistan and Ukraine, and the remaining 13.3% are citizens of other countries. Men made up 71.1% and women - 28.9%.

The number of arrivals from EU countries grew by 41.9% up to 7,200, from the Persian Gulf countries by 4.3% up to 34,600, from the CIS countries by 4.7% up to 58,600, from other countries by 3.8% up to 81,400.

72.4% of foreign guests arrived by air, 26.3% by rail and road, and 1.3% by sea.
