How has the situation in our banks changed after the 2016 crisis?

March 3, Fineko/abc.az. Analysts of S&P Global Ratings believe that Azerbaijani banks have maintained stable funding profile after the 2016 crisis, which was facilitated by the growth of the deposit base.

ABC.AZ reports that this is reflected in the data collection published by the agency.

In this information, it was noted that the level of dollarization of deposits is gradually decreasing to the level of regional analogues, but still significantly exceeds the dollarization of loans, which creates currency imbalances between banks' assets and liabilities in foreign currency.

"Stable assessment of risk trends in the industry now takes into account the increased regulation and control in the sector over the past 3 years, which should help minimize risks. We also take into account our expectations regarding the stable funding profile of banks and the stable structure of the industry, which is dominated by the three largest banks in low-risk environment from potential new market participants," S&P says.
